Jun 2011 The annual filing deadline of 30 June 2011, for the 2010 foreign bank account reporting (FBAR) is fast approaching. Companies need to take appropriate action to meet this deadline. New regulations, issued effective 28 March 2011 make significant changes that may cause officers and employees, who previously had no FBAR reporting obligation with respect to their employer's financial accounts to now have an FBAR reporting obligation. The Internal Revenue Service and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network announced on 31 May 2011 that a small subset of these individuals, whose only required reporting is with respect to this type of signature authority, will receive a one-year extension beyond the upcoming filing date of 30 June 2011.
